Custom Log Homes in Montana, now a division of Bitterroot Valley Log and Timber, provided detailed drawings and hand crafted and built the home in Montana using lodge pole pine for the walls and stronger, Douglas fir for the purlins (trusses and roof structure). Many logs were hand selected for their character (large knots and scars). The home was then disassembled, shipped, and restacked on our site with direct supervision by Custom Log Homes using 2 100' construction cranes. Watermill Wide Wood Plank Flooring: Wide plank flooring (6-10") was brought in from New Hampshire. The flooring is an authentic reproduction of old watermill boards and replicates the look of floors whose boards were originally rough sawn at riverside watermills centuries ago.Such boards were never planed or scraped smooth, leaving distinctive saw marks in the wood. The original saw marks are left on the timber, then planks are individually brushed to soften the texture, creating an authentic reproduction of the old watermill boards . Tongue and Groove Ceilings throughout the first floor and loft. Half Log Staircase to the loft and basement. Wrought iron 'tree-branch' railings in the loft and staircase hand crafted by Ozark craftsman. Avalanche Ranch Rustic Cabin Lighting and other unique antique lighting. 22' Custom Stone Fireplace built with native stone from the property plus 2 gas fireplaces with faux dry-stack stone. Skip-Trowel Interior Walls for turn of the century log cabin look and feel. Beautiful Concrete Stained and Finished Basement Flooring, easy to clean and maintain. Custom Wine Cellar with cork ceiling and wine barrel ceiling lighting. Antique Oak Dressers Converted to Vanities in the master bath.
